£1,200.00

The incredible group of medals plus MiD, to Lieutenant Eric Aver Duncan, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, who was killed in the Victoria Cross action on the port of Oran in North Africa. His ship, HMS Walney, was sunk in forcing entry to the habour of Oran.

Captain Peters said of Lieutenant Duncan's gallant part and quotes him he last saw Eric on the bridge of the ship carrying on his duty, unflinching under terrific fire. He heard his voice giving orders shortly after entering the harbour and then remembered that it suddenly ceased. He could only assume he had been killed, as well as many other gallant officers.

The group comes with an original letter, his boxed medals, news cuttings, the condolence slip, plus history of the rare MiD group.
