WW1 Military Cross, 1914 Star, Victory Medal group with Memorial Plaque to Captain John Stanley Marsh Shingler.
He was born in Collins Street, Melbourne, Australia. Served in the 4 Denbighshire Battalion, Royal Welsh Fusiliers, 10 November 1914.
Later Acting Captain, 20 July 1916, while working on trenching and tramway along the Messines - Wytschaete Ridge.
He was awarded the Military Cross for an action on 11-12 June 1917 at Bluff Tunnels, in command of D Company.
He was wounded in mopping up operations at St Pierre-Vaast Wood on 2 September and died of wounds on 4 September 1918, aged only 25.
