A World War Two Auxiliary Fire Service, later Vice-President of the Luton British Red Cross OBE, Voluntary Medical Service Long Service group representing 50 years' service, awarded to Miss Vera Christine Godfrey, comprising The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Officer's Breast Badge (OBE - Civil Division) on ladies bow, unnamed as issued, 1939-45 Defence Medal, unnamed as issued, Jubilee Medal 1977, unnamed as issued, Voluntary Medical Service Medal, silver issue, with 7 further awards bars, the last three contemporarily mounted for wear, lightly toned, very fine.

Vera Christine Godfrey was born on the 23rd May 1905 in Luton, Bedfordshire to Katherine Marry and Albert Conquest Godfrey. In the 1939 Census, she is shown as living in Luton, Bedfordshire, her occupation given as Domestic Duties with her mother Katherine and her eldest sister Irene. In the note's column, Kathleen is shown as British Red Cross Casualty Service, Irene as British Red Cross Auxiliary Service- Civil Nursing, and Vera as Auxiliary Fire Service. A true 'Blitz Spirit' family.

Vera was awarded the Jubilee Medal in 1977 as Area Vice-President British Red Cross Society, Luton (roll confirms), and the OBE in the London Gazette of the 26th June 1979 as, still, the Vice-President, Luton, British Red Cross Society.

Her Voluntary Medical Sevice Medal with 7 clasps, surely a record, represents 50 Years' Service, the medal is awarded for 15 years' service and each award represents a further 5 years.
