He joined the RAF as a 24-year-old Rigger Air Mechanic at 206 Squadron, a Coastal Command Squadron flying Anson Aircraft, he also qualified as an Air Gunner from 1939, Atlantic Star award for Coastal Service, then he taught new entrants from 1942, from March 1943 on operations No.10 Squadron in which he completed 25 ops., example: Hanover 3/7/1943, Peenemünde, Berlin, Munich, he was awarded the DFM, immediately after 1943 he was training engineers at 241 OTC, in 1949 he made numerous flights to Berlin, the Berlin Airlift, also took part in experiments, see history.
