Group of 13 to Air Vice Marshal Charles William Nutting.
Served WW1 with the Royal Naval Air Service.
D.S.C. for his service on 29th February 1916 during the action between HMS Alcantara and SMS Grief immediate award.

1929 Officer commanding RAF Hal Far.

1940 Transfered to Technical Branch.
1941 Director-General of Signals.
A signals specialist in the Royal Navy, he was responsible for providing wireless communication for the aircraft serving aboard HMS Riviera.
He was a member of the committee that held talks with Poland about the supply of Hurricanes and Spitfires, but supplies failed to reach the country before the German victory.
He transferred to the newly formed Technical Branch in 1940. After retiring from the RAF he became Telecommunications Adviser to the Minister resident in the Middle East and then in September 1945. joined Cable and Wireless undertaking special duties abroad
