A good group of 7 to Major Ernest Pouleston Nicholls, 2nd London Brigade, Royal Field Artillery; served in France from 4 October 1915; awarded the DSO for conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty, while commanding his battery during an enemy attack under most difficult circumstances he fought off the enemy all day and in the evening withdrew his battery with the loss of one gun which had been destroyed by shell fire, he showed great ability in command, DSO for action at Morchies 27 March 1918 in France, scarce DSO for gallantry, he was also MiD 23 December 1918, TD 30 May 1919, he went on to serve in WWII as a Flying officer May 1940-44, after the war he became a teacher, died 12 December 1955 in London, includes full service history
