A Good Distinguished Flying Cross Group of 7 to Navigator Thomas O’Gorman (120574)
A scarce and desirable group of seven medals awarded to Navigator Thomas O’Gorman (120574), who served with No. 279 Squadron, RAF, flying Hudson aircraft from 1942 to 1944 with Coastal Command.
He received the United States Distinguished Flying Cross for his role in the rescue of ten aircrew from a crashed B-17 bomber in the ocean (see citation). He was also awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (UK) for his operational service.
After his Coastal Command service, O’Gorman transferred to the Far East in March 1945, flying Liberators until September 1945.
