Distinguished Conduct Medal trio to 915772 Gunner/ Lance Corporal Percy Quinnell, served Egypt attd. No.5 M.M. Battery, Royal Field Artillery.
For conspicuous gallantry and determination on the 8th June 1918. He was in charge of no.3 gun post just north of Arsuf and was shooting onto an enemy machine gun when a splinter struck him on the head and penetrated his steel helmet and stunned him. After a brief interval, he continued firing and eventually was successful in blowing the machine gun some 100 yards away from its emplacement and killing its crew.
His work has always been highly commendable and he is exceptionally reliable and trustworthy
